MUSICA MIERCOLES

Hey party people.
A little music to get you through your hump day.

YOLO - the lonely island.
Kendrick Lamar is giving financial advice. Need I say more?

MMMbop - hanson.
A more recent version of their famous song that I recently stumbled across.
It's still sounds just as good and just as catchy - just a little bit more grown up.

* Also, for you sad monolinguists, miercoles = wednesday.
I hope you can figure out what musica translates to on your own...

DRINK OF THE DAY: SPARKLING SANGRIA

A DofD in honor of my current Spanish-ness!  Here, they make sparkling sangria with cava, which is a special type of sparkling wine produced in Catalunya (the area of Spain which Barcelona is a part of).
So if ya want to be all Barcelona and sh!t, try it with cava - I guarantee it'll be delish!

BITS & PIECES

My days currently consist of the metro, long classes, twisting alleys, tapas, churros con chocolate, walking, historic buildings, more classes, sangria, expensive taxis, homework, skype, more tapas, discotecas, class, walking, spanish, cold weather, metro, chupitos, and no sleep.

TAKE A HAPPY PILL

One of my most recent - and favorite - discoveries while wandering the streets of Barcelona is happy pills.  It's a Spanish candy shop that totally commits to the theme of candy being "happy pills" that cure all.  As you can see from the picture above, the storefront is what drew us in originally - so cool!  The whole place is white and sleek and clinical, just like what you would expect from a medically-themed store.  What you do next is easy enough.

The pill bottles and cases cost a few extra euros, depending on the size, so we just got plastic baggies that we filled to the brim with gummy candy of every color.  You seal the bag with a cool happy pills sticker, which tells you what the pills were supposed to cure - everything from lovesickness to a Sunday without football.  A cute concept, a well-designed store, and delicious candy - what more could a girl ask for?

BEST DRESSED: GOLDEN GLOBES

Did you watch the Golden Globes yesterday? I didn't, because here in good ole Espana, it wasn't on until 2 am, so I had to resort to Best (and Worst) Dressed Lists and the YouTube video of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's opening monologue this morning.  It was hilar, as per expected.  You know when there's those weird questionnaires or applications or whatever and one question is always who you would invite to a dinner party if you could invite anyone?  Those two would be near the top of my list.  Anyway, here are some of the ladies that I thought rawked the red carpet last night!

ZARA BARCELONA

One of the many things I've noticed while wandering the streets of Barcelona the past few days is the abundance of Zaras.  Like, literally, one on every corner.   Not that I'm complaining or anything.  Well, I might be after a month or so when I get my bank statement, but that's a whole 'nother story.

Anyway, I wandered in for the first time today, and even though we have Zara at home, I found myself wanting to buy everything.  My excuses? One: I need more "European" clothes (which is probably why everything I picked was black...).  Two: Even though it's from Zara, I can say "I got it in Spain" when someone asks me where I bought it.  Way cooler.

Plus, every store - and I mean EVERY STORE - in Spain is having a sale right now, and every window has huge signs that say REBAJAS.  As if I need any more incentive to spend some Euros....

P.S. I'll post more soon about the city itself and my experience so far, but right now, I need a siesta!

SOME GLOBAL NEWS

Big news, kiddos.

I'm writing this post from the comfort of LAX airport, getting ready to begin a day of travel that will end up with me, by myself, in Barcelona, Spain - for the next three months.  That's right, kids, I'm studying abroad.  For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, I'm living with a Spanish family and taking classes in Barcelona for the next semester, working on my Spanish skillz and tryna meet cute Spanish soccer (excuse me, fútbol) players.

To be honest, this is probably the biggest adventure I've ever taken in my life, and I'm torn between being really excited and wanting to throw up.  But mainly excited.  I'm excited to shop and travel and experience a new culture and eat yummy food and visit lots of museums and be a superstar international jetsetter.

I'll still be updating this blog with all the latest in fashion and lifestyle, though it might have a bit more of a European flair in the next couple of months, if ya know what I mean.  It'll take a bit of time to settle in and figure out my schedule and Internet access and all that jazz, but next time I post it'll be from España!

Besos, Jordan

PENCIL IT IN

I'm majorly type-A - I like things organized, color-coded, and five minutes early.  Because of that, I've been using a planner for school work since about the 3rd grade.  While they've gotten progressively cuter and progressively more filled over the years, the feeling of starting a fresh one - literally, starting a new chapter in your life - always gets me.  Whether or not you're as anal as I am, here are some cute picks to start your 2013 in style!
