LADY IN LEATHER

I've had a leather jacket (okay, fake leather) since about freshman or sophomore year of high school, when my fashionable mother bought it for me at Macy's.  I don't wear it that often at home because it doesn't quite fit with my preppier style, but obviously the game all changed when I came to Europe.  It's been too cold to wear it (I've been rocking either the black peacoat or the Barbour), but now the weather's getting nicer and it's the perfect thing to throw on in the morning or at night.

The only problem? It's molting.  Like, literally - the fake leather coating is peeling off at the seams and leaving behind the gross coarse gray fabric underneath.  It's nasty.  Luckily, I'm not wanting for shops - I knew between Zara, Mango, and H&M I'd find something cute and not too expensive.  So when my parents were here in Barcelona (got to milk that for all it's worth, dudes), my mom and I popped into Mango and came out with this beauty. It's soft and well-made and didn't break the bank, and it's already made its way into my daily outfits.  I'm definitely going to have to incorporate it into my outfits when I get back home as well!

TO KEEP YOU WARM

It's not that cold here in Barcelona, but we definitely have some of the best weather in Europe right now.  Which means that any time I travel someplace else, it's considerably colder and I need to be prepared for a long day of sightseeing in the cold/rain/snow/hail/etc.  After London two weeks ago and Amsterdam this weekend - not to mention a looming trip to Prague on the horizon - I'm determined to invest in both a warm knit snood (such a great word) to cover up my neck and face and a cute knit headband to keep my ears warm on blustery days.  If all these European girls manage to be both warm and stylish, who's to say I can't be as well?

TRIPLE TAKE

It's always such a relief to see stars wearing the same thing in different pictures.
First of all, because it's nice to be reassured that celebrities don't actually wear an outfit once and then throw it away, as it sometimes can seem.  (Sidenote: if you happen to know someone that does this, please give their trashman my address).  Also, it definitely makes them seem more human to know that they have a favorite pair of shoes that they wear all the time just like we do.

Here, Miranda Kerr has perfected the art of the repeat.  She's got a great denim shirt, an awesome pair of black cowboy booties, and a beautiful black bag, and she rocks them multiple times.  The color combo of black, denim, and textured gray might seem simple, but as they say, less is more, my darlings.  Use this as your outfit inspiration for the coming winter weeks, when the fact that you're waking up before the sun even rises makes it difficult to color-coordinate.

Final touches: throw on some diva-status sunglasses and grab yourself a baby and voila!
You too can be Victoria Secret Angel!

OH HEY THERE

This is THE perfect winter dress.  It's good for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, sorority rush...the list goes on!  Apparently everyone else thought so too, considering it's sold out on Shopbop....hopefully it'll come back in stock soon so I can snatch it up!
(AKA beg my mom to buy it for me).

While Hurricane Sandy did little to no damage where I live, she did bring cold weather with her, and it looks like it's here to stay.  It's the kind of cold weather that makes you want to curl up in a ball when your alarm goes off in the morning and stay in bed all day, reading and drinking tea and watching movies on netflix.  Alas, that thing called class gets in the way.  I'm counting down the minutes to the weekend where I can do absolutely nothing for two days straight.  Here are six things that I wish I had right now to help keep me cozy.

ROCK ME LIKE A HURRICANE

Yo yo yo, dear readers.

If you, like me, are currently residing on the East Coast, you've been getting all sorts of alerts and updates about the impending Frankenstorm, our dear friend Sandy.  Currently, she's my new best friend, as classes were cancelled today!!!  (But actually, this never happens).  Which means that instead of spending Sunday night in the library and waking up at 8 am this morning, everyone went out to bars last night.  Picture a packed bar filled with students in leggings and t-shirts and raincoats, most straight from the library, getting drunk and randomly starting chants of "Sandy! Sandy!".  Quite the experience.

If you're not as lucky as I am and have to brave the elements, here's a suggestion for a cute and colorful outfit.  None of this cutesy little trenchcoat stuff here - Sandy means business.  Patagonia rain jacket, Bean Boots with Gor-Tex, and Under Armour Coldgear leggings will keep you warm and dry.  A cute doggie sweater and a plaid scarf keep you from looking like Bear Grylls.  Throw in a cheeky survival guide for helpful tips and a flashlight in case the power goes (or you have to bash someone's head in, obvs) and you've got yourself a hurricane-proof outfit!

In honor of that, go drink a Hurricane.
