PRETTY LITTLE POUCHES

Just some pretty petite pouches I've pinned (try saying that five times fast!)
Perfect for corralling smaller objects in a huge tote or a beach bag,
or just to grab and go on their own for dinner or drinks!

WEEKEND LINKS

So much to read, so little time! Here are some goodies that caught my eye on the web this week.

01. SHORT STACK: a kickstarter project to create handmade cookbooklets - small-format cookbooks that focus on a single, inspiring ingredient, with recipes culled by an awesome tastemasters and food writers.

02. HIGHBROW SUMMER READS: a list complied by flavorwire of some good summer reads, both in quality and plot. can't wait to add some to my summer reading list!

03. LOEFFLER RANDALL'S PRE-FALL ACCESSORIES: beautifully crafted shoes and bags for all the cool cats out there. my favs are the lock clutch and the damaris platform sandal.

04. ONLINE TOOLS FOR AN ORGANIZED LIFE: laicie of one thousand threads' tips for online sites and apps to help keep your life O.T.O.T. (on time, on target). i'll be downloading some of these for sure!

05. WHAT, WHY, AND HOW TO STYLE HAIR: into the gloss kills it with this feature that demystfies the hair product aisle in sephora.  what's the difference between wax and pomade? which should you use? when should you use it? all that and some quirky illustrations to boot - a must bookmark.

SPRINGBREAKERS

It's that time of year again - SPRING. BREAK.

Yes, we get it even here in Spain.  Technically, it's semana santa - aka Holy Week aka the week before Easter, but a week of no classes is a week of no classes, right?  I'm headed out of town Sunday, hitting up the Canary Islands, Valencia, and Mallora before making my way back to BCN.  That's right - enough of these cultural European cities.  This girl's tryna get her tan on.

In the world inside my head, this is what I'd pack - a big tote bag and sandals to walk around town during the day, sunglasses and a bikini for the beach, and a tropical shift dress and wedges for when the sun goes down.  After all, you can only fit so much in a carry on, but when you're headed to the beach, you don't need much!

IT AIN'T EASY

This weekend is St. Paddy's Day.  (Not St. Patty's Day).  It's one of my favorite holidays, because it always seems to mark the start of Spring and pretty much all it entails is drinking lots of beer. (And also putting on lots of sunscreen, thanks to the fair skin and freckles that actually stem from my Irish heritage.)  This year, however, St. Patrick's Day is going to be a little bit different than just a giant fraternity party.

This year, I'm going to be in DUBLIN.

That's right - this girl's going to be at the heart of it all, in actual Ireland, to celebrate.  Sure, it'll be lots of American tourists, but whatever.  I'll be with a bunch of my friends (and I mean a bunch - St. Paddy's Day seems to be the Spring version of Oktoberfest for study abroad students).  I'll be rocking my green jeans.  I'll be drinking actual Guinness.  And I'll be in actual Ireland.
BAM!

For those of you significantly less cooler than me (just kidding), you can still celebrate in style.
Check out some of these green picks to get you in the spirit for this weekend!

PUMPED UP KICKS

Dude. Keds is absolutely killing it with the collaborations right now.  Both of these popped up in my inbox within days of each other, and now all I can think about are cute sneakers on my feet.  They're absolutely perfect for springtime ambles through the park and to the market.  For me, I think it's a tie between orange chevron and navy stripes for KS, and definitely the black and cream geometric ones from Madewell.  After all, a girl can never have too many Keds, right? Right?

TO KEEP YOU WARM

It's not that cold here in Barcelona, but we definitely have some of the best weather in Europe right now.  Which means that any time I travel someplace else, it's considerably colder and I need to be prepared for a long day of sightseeing in the cold/rain/snow/hail/etc.  After London two weeks ago and Amsterdam this weekend - not to mention a looming trip to Prague on the horizon - I'm determined to invest in both a warm knit snood (such a great word) to cover up my neck and face and a cute knit headband to keep my ears warm on blustery days.  If all these European girls manage to be both warm and stylish, who's to say I can't be as well?

While Hurricane Sandy did little to no damage where I live, she did bring cold weather with her, and it looks like it's here to stay.  It's the kind of cold weather that makes you want to curl up in a ball when your alarm goes off in the morning and stay in bed all day, reading and drinking tea and watching movies on netflix.  Alas, that thing called class gets in the way.  I'm counting down the minutes to the weekend where I can do absolutely nothing for two days straight.  Here are six things that I wish I had right now to help keep me cozy.

OH LA LA

all via kate spade.

Love love love the new Kate Spade x Garance Dore collection! All the French-inspired pieces have that je ne sais quois that epitomizes both the blogger and the brand.  I'm loving the Peter Pan collar details, the abundance of polka dots, and the prints that feature Garance's beautiful handwriting - all in the oh-so-chic palette of black & white. Oooh la la is right.

SO CLUTCH

So I was looking at my pins and realized two things.  One, I awkwardly have pinned the same image once and then again days later, not remembering that I'd already pinned it.  Also, this has happened on more than one occasion.  Well, at least my taste is consistent, yeah?  Two, I noticed that I pin a lot of image with STATEMENT CLUTCHES.  Yes, it must be capitalized to get the full effect.  Anyways, I'm the type of girl that carries the same brown bag every.single.day, so the idea of having a STATEMENT CLUTCH that really doesn't go with more than two outfits in your closet, tops, is kind of appealing to me.  These options below are cheap enough that even I can afford to indulge in the trend - even if I only carry them once.

WILD THINGS

all via jcrew.

Nothing jazzes up an arm party quite like a little bit of Mother Nature!  J Crew's got ram heads and elephant heads all bejeweled and enameled and ready for a night out on the town.  Perfect for the party animal in us all.  (Ha ha, get it? Party animal? I crack myself up.)

SPLURGE/SAVE

So I (along with every other blogger on the internet, apparently) am head over heads for the Cartier Juste Un Clou bracelet.  So sleek!  So tough! So....expensive.  If you, like me, aren't making the big bucks this summer but are really feeling the nail-as-bracelet vibe, check out the CC Skye Nail Bangle.  Obvs not the exact same, but it's a similar style without the hefty price tag.  So take the extra $$$ you saved and order yourself another margarita.  It's National Tequila Day, after all.

FRESH & JUICY

all image via juicy couture.

I was in middle school during the whole Juicy Couture heyday.  I remember I begged and pleaded and stomped my feet to try and get my mother to buy me a Juicy tracksuit, but she put her foot down.  (Looking back, I'm thankful - a velour tracksuit? Rhinestones? Words across the butt? Really?)  At one point, I saved up enough to by myself an on-sale, last season jacket in a deep cranberry color, and I wore it to death.  But then I outgrew it, and by then, the Juicy phase was over and I moved on with my life.

And then today, while shopping for a Mother's day present, I paused by a window so cute and colorful I just had to go inside.  And what store, you might ask, had captured my attention so?  None other than the JC itself.  I haven't set foot in the store in the five-odd years it's been at the mall until today, but boy am I glad that I did.  Neon and metallic shorts, lace dresses, Trina Turk-esque shift dresses, and neon and rhinestone jewelry - what more could a girl want?  They still sell the tracksuit, so steer clear of those, but they've got some seriously cute stuff as well.  And don't worry - all the dresses still come with that cute little j-shaped zipper you loved back in middle school!

SPRING PICNIC

Yesterday's post about the travel-friendly STACKED wines and today's beautiful weather have me craving a picnic!  If I could do it, I would go all out - a springtime picnic cocktail, a fabulous cheese board, and a post-lunch game of croquet in the sunshine!  And this, of course, is the casual all-American outfit I would wear!
