A (MOSTLY UNREALISTIC) WISHLIST

What's in my virtual shopping cart right now:

01. REBECCA TAYLOR SHORTS: Ikat, polka dots, silk, shorts, black & white - so many things to love! Also, lovin' how Liz of Sequins & Stripes styled 'em here.
02. VINCE BLAZER: True confession - one of the other interns at my office has this. I didn't even know who made it; I just saw her wearing it one day and was like BAM! That is the perfectly casual drapey black blazer I've been looking for! Then I creeped on the tag when she hung it on the back of her chair and saw that it was Vince and almost $500 and went home and cried. (It's actually 50% off at Shopbop right now, so if you're the type of person that thinks $242.50 is spare change, be my guest.)
03. SHE INSIDE LACE TOP: Okay, so this is actually realistic. I've been looking for a good white lace top and saw this one on Pinterest. Yes, technically, it's apricot, but for twenty bucks I feel like I could "accidentally" throw it in with a bit of bleach??
04. MARYSIA SWIM HONOLULU BIKINI: I've been lusting after this since I saw it on Molly over at A Piece of Toast. The strapless style is my go-to, and the zig-zag cut adds a little something special. (And also probably really weird tan lines).
05. SPLENDID DRAPED TOP: Another thing that's perpetually on my wishlist: the perfect draped gray shirt. A little bit of dolman sleeve, a loose and long torso, and soft as a baby's butt - this Splendid tee fits the bill. Again, $74 is a bit out of my budget for a t-shirt, but when you spend so long looking for the perfect something, it's hard to resist when you actually find it. You never know - I do have a birthday coming up after all....
06. RACHEL ZOE GLADYS SANDAL: Confession: also saw this shoe on my fellow intern Erin. (She has the best clothes!!)  She has them in tan, but I immediately asked where she bought them and if they have them in black. I currently don't have a good pair of sandals to wear to work (my beat-up gold Jack Rogers aren't really an option...) and considering it's hot as hell in NYC right now, my feet are sweating just thinking about shoving them into flats all day.  This is exactly what I've been looking for: black, ankle strap, a bit of gold detail, and simple. Another thing to add to the birthday list....

*SIGH* What I wouldn't give for some extra cash money right now, kids.

SPRINGBREAKERS

It's that time of year again - SPRING. BREAK.

Yes, we get it even here in Spain.  Technically, it's semana santa - aka Holy Week aka the week before Easter, but a week of no classes is a week of no classes, right?  I'm headed out of town Sunday, hitting up the Canary Islands, Valencia, and Mallora before making my way back to BCN.  That's right - enough of these cultural European cities.  This girl's tryna get her tan on.

In the world inside my head, this is what I'd pack - a big tote bag and sandals to walk around town during the day, sunglasses and a bikini for the beach, and a tropical shift dress and wedges for when the sun goes down.  After all, you can only fit so much in a carry on, but when you're headed to the beach, you don't need much!

J. CREW LOVE

Ugh, J. Crew kills it as always.
I would live in that skirt/t-shirt/sunnies/lipstick combo if they were in my closet.
Further proof that J.Crew is awesome: this video.
Can't decide if I love Jenna Lyons or hate her for having that many pairs of shoes.

PUMPED UP KICKS

Dude. Keds is absolutely killing it with the collaborations right now.  Both of these popped up in my inbox within days of each other, and now all I can think about are cute sneakers on my feet.  They're absolutely perfect for springtime ambles through the park and to the market.  For me, I think it's a tie between orange chevron and navy stripes for KS, and definitely the black and cream geometric ones from Madewell.  After all, a girl can never have too many Keds, right? Right?

THE BEST IMPULSE BUY EVER

You know how sometimes you buy things on impulse - just a spur-of-the-moment, I-have-to-have-this, toss-it-in-the-cart kind of thing?  Usually, that thing that you couldn't live without at the time ends up sitting in the back of your closet for a few years before finally being donated to a thrift shop.  For a while there, I thought that was the fate for these puppies.

They're from Target, which gets me every time with the impulse buys.  Everything is just so cute and colorful and cheap!  I was shopping for things for my apartment last fall when these called my name from the sale rack.  They are absolutely not my style at all - I hardly wear heels, and when I do they're plain and black and tall.  So leopard print wedges? Really?

Well, I fell in love and threw them in my cart and spend the extra $10.  My mom about cried when I showed them to her because she thought they were so hideous, and I've worn them a grand total of two times in the year and a half I've owned them.  Maybe they just weren't meant to be.

BUT THEN!

But then I went to Europe. And threw them in my suitcase.  And have literally worn them at least two times a week since I've been here.  When we go out at night here in Barcelona, we wear heels.  And sometimes the black dress + black tights + black coat + black booties thing can become more than a little monotonous.  Solution?  Throw these babies on.  They're comfortable enough to dance in all night, and the leopard adds that little something-something your outfit has been missing.  I've more than gotten my money's worth.

So my advice? Next time you see something cheap and cute and ohmgodyouhavetohaveit?
Buy it - you'll thank me later.

ON THE RUN

ONE / TWO / THREE

Running around like a chicken with my head chopped off this week - school work, midterms, planning three events at once, and spending far too much time on Facebook and Pinterest really takes it out of a girl!   I only wish I looked this fabulous running around town!

FALL SHOPPING

clockwise from top left: ONE / TWO / THREE / FOUR / FIVE / SIX

I hit up the mall with my mom yesterday to do some back-to-school shopping, and I was head over heals for all the new fall clothes out on display.  Everything was big and soft and warm and in shades of browns and grays and greens and reds.  It made me long for crisp fall days, which seem so far in the future right now considering I'm wearing a tank top and a skirt.  Still, I can't help but crave leather and chunky knits and suedes - all the textures of fall.   These were some of my favorites! (It helps if you close your eyes and imagine falling leaves and a crackling fire, especially if it's still summer where you are like it is for me!)

JACK ROGERS x QUADRILLE

Jack Rogers are some of my favorite shoes.  I live in my gold pair from the moment it starts to get warm in the Spring until my toes start to develop frostbite in late Fall.  Needless to say, this also means I usually have to replace them every year.  I usually stick with gold, but this year I might have to branch out a bit, given that Jack Rogers is collaborating with one of my all time favorite fabric brands, Quadrille.  With two different fabric choices and multiple colors, there's an option for everyone.  Personally, I'm leaning towards the classic navy blue, but wouldn't the pink and green be such a fun summer pair?  Which one is your favorite?

FRESH & JUICY

all image via juicy couture.

I was in middle school during the whole Juicy Couture heyday.  I remember I begged and pleaded and stomped my feet to try and get my mother to buy me a Juicy tracksuit, but she put her foot down.  (Looking back, I'm thankful - a velour tracksuit? Rhinestones? Words across the butt? Really?)  At one point, I saved up enough to by myself an on-sale, last season jacket in a deep cranberry color, and I wore it to death.  But then I outgrew it, and by then, the Juicy phase was over and I moved on with my life.

And then today, while shopping for a Mother's day present, I paused by a window so cute and colorful I just had to go inside.  And what store, you might ask, had captured my attention so?  None other than the JC itself.  I haven't set foot in the store in the five-odd years it's been at the mall until today, but boy am I glad that I did.  Neon and metallic shorts, lace dresses, Trina Turk-esque shift dresses, and neon and rhinestone jewelry - what more could a girl want?  They still sell the tracksuit, so steer clear of those, but they've got some seriously cute stuff as well.  And don't worry - all the dresses still come with that cute little j-shaped zipper you loved back in middle school!

SPRING PICNIC

Yesterday's post about the travel-friendly STACKED wines and today's beautiful weather have me craving a picnic!  If I could do it, I would go all out - a springtime picnic cocktail, a fabulous cheese board, and a post-lunch game of croquet in the sunshine!  And this, of course, is the casual all-American outfit I would wear!
