GET AT ME

Some on-trend beauties that I'd like to have in my closet right now...

SHOPPING SPREE

Okay, not really a spree, per say, considering I only bought two things. But two full price things at Zara as a college student studying abroad is like whoa! major shopping spree.  Anyway, I tried these pants and this dress on the other day and didn't buy them because my wallet started crying just thinking about it, but then I talked to my mom and she sent me an email the next day saying that she had thought about it and she thought I should go back and buy the pants, because who knew if I would be able to find a skinny-but-not-sausage-tight pair of waxed black jeans for 30 euro this fall?
So I took that as a sign to buy the dress too.

OH HEY THERE

This is THE perfect winter dress.  It's good for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, sorority rush...the list goes on!  Apparently everyone else thought so too, considering it's sold out on Shopbop....hopefully it'll come back in stock soon so I can snatch it up!
(AKA beg my mom to buy it for me).

HAWT STUFF

So I didn't watch the Emmy's, because I'm lame like that.  Which means I just saw this picture of Leslie Mann, and can't believe I haven't seen it floating around before now.  I'm in serious L-U-V with that dress!  The bright marigold skirt, the beaded top, and pockets - what's not to love?  The pops of turquoise in her jewelry and her cute lil bun are just like pepperoni on the pizza of awesomeness.  Serious hawt stuff.

ROARING TWENTIES

first four images via here; last two via here.

The 1920's has always been my favorite era. (A flapper is my go-to Halloween costume, of course). I'm drawn in by the glitz and the glam, by the idea Gatsby-esque parties and bathtub gin and short fringed skirts and bright red lipstick.  It seems so fun and glamourous but it's also got that sense of independence and adventure that I love.  So naturally, when I came across both of these editorials in my two favorite magazines, I had to share.  The first is Teen Vogue (yes, it's still a favorite), and if the feathers and velvet aren't enough to draw you in, then perhaps Josh Hutcherson in a bowtie is (major swoon).  And then in Nylon, Victoria Justice literally sparkles.  It's enough to make any girl wish for a time machine.

FRESH & JUICY

all image via juicy couture.

I was in middle school during the whole Juicy Couture heyday.  I remember I begged and pleaded and stomped my feet to try and get my mother to buy me a Juicy tracksuit, but she put her foot down.  (Looking back, I'm thankful - a velour tracksuit? Rhinestones? Words across the butt? Really?)  At one point, I saved up enough to by myself an on-sale, last season jacket in a deep cranberry color, and I wore it to death.  But then I outgrew it, and by then, the Juicy phase was over and I moved on with my life.

And then today, while shopping for a Mother's day present, I paused by a window so cute and colorful I just had to go inside.  And what store, you might ask, had captured my attention so?  None other than the JC itself.  I haven't set foot in the store in the five-odd years it's been at the mall until today, but boy am I glad that I did.  Neon and metallic shorts, lace dresses, Trina Turk-esque shift dresses, and neon and rhinestone jewelry - what more could a girl want?  They still sell the tracksuit, so steer clear of those, but they've got some seriously cute stuff as well.  And don't worry - all the dresses still come with that cute little j-shaped zipper you loved back in middle school!

DERBY DAYS

This weekend is the annual Foxfield Races, a huge steeplechase event in Charlottesville, VA that's hugely popular with the college crowd.  It's a great excuse to pull out your preppiest sundress, slip into some Jack's, and wear a cute floppy sunhat to shade your shoulders from the sun (even better when it's monogrammed!).  Even though the weather forecast tomorrow isn't the best, it won't stop people from showing up in droves to enjoy some seersucker and mint juleps! (Or, you know, orange juice and cheap vodka in a plastic cup). As they say, if you go to Foxfield and see any horses, you're doing it wrong!

FANCY & FORMAL

So this weekend we had our sorority's big parents formal and I'm being completely honest when I say it was one of the best nights I've had in college so far.  My parents came all the way across the country for the weekend and Saturday night we drove out to a beautiful estate and had cocktails and dinner under a huge white tent.  Then, of course, the band came out and any hope of hair and makeup staying in place went out the window.  Luckily, wedges are super easy to dance in!  This is the outfit I wore (well, with a few caveats).
Caveat #1: My wedges were actually the Aldo knockoffs from a season or two ago, which I couldn't find online anymore.
Caveat #2: Let's be honest - we weren't drinking anything close to Moet.
We still had an absolutely fabulous time!

PRETTY IN PINK

Such pretty colors in ASOS's SS12 salon collection! And I'm loving the lace detailing as well.  So pretty and girly....I swoon! It makes me want to have a tea party!
